SENSE center in Pula hosted a workshop for history teachers from Istria on the use of the archives of the ICTY (now the Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals) in history teaching.
The training was organised and led by the Mechanism’s Information Programme for Affected Communities (MIP) with the aim to train history educators to effectively use judicially-established facts when creating educational material related to the 1990s conflicts.
MIP's coordinators Anisa Sućeska-Vekić and Rada Pejić-Sremac have already held such workshops in Croatia and several other countries of the former Yugoslavia. The training in Pula was attended by 17 Istrian teachers and one from Rijeka.
The workshop was organized in cooperation with the Croatian Association of History Teachers and the European Association of History Teachers (EUROCLIO).
The participants were acquainted with the SENSE - Transitional Justice Center's archives as well. It contains news reports on war crimes trials, documentaries, interactive narratives and other audiovisual material produced by SENSE during its 20-years long coverage of the ICTY.
